Screen Shot 12 of 20: Setting Model Properties: Run Mode
- In addition to a design mode, each xlWorkbench model has a
run mode. In run mode, design mode features, such as the ability to
create forms and set model properties, are disabled.
- If you create and distribute spreadsheets to others, you can use run
mode to prevent other users from modifying your models.
- While a model is still in design mode, you can set properties that will
take effect only when the model is set to run mode.
- For example, in design mode, the workbook and all sheets are typically
unprotected so they can be easily edited. However, if you want the
workbook and sheets to be protected in run mode, you can set properties
in design mode to indicate your intentions.
- When you set a model to run mode from design mode, xlWorkbench
automatically examines the run mode properties and updates the
workbook accordingly. For example, if you indicated in design mode
that you wanted the workbook to be protected in run mode, the workbook
will be protected by xlWorkbench in the process of setting it to run mode.
