Setting System Options

1 Customizing the Workbench You can customize how AWB behaves by setting system and model options. System options are global. They apply to the AWB program itself, or they affect all models. Model options are local. They affect only the model that is active when you set the option. Experiment with system and model options to find the settings that work best for you.

1.1 Setting System Options

You can set system options by selecting AWB | Options. Figure 5.1 shows the system options available to you.

§ Activate system automatically at startup

What It Does:
 Activates Workbench Mode immediately after the AWB program has finished loading.

When To Use It:
When you are working in Workbench Mode most of the time and want to save yourself from having to activate AWB manually.

§         Hide Excel toolbars when system is activated

What It Does:
Hides all Excel toolbars when AWB is activated.  Only AWB toolbars are shown.  (Note:  All hidden toolbars are restored automatically when AWB is de-activated.)

When To Use It:
When you want to reduce “screen clutter” in Workbench Mode.  Fewer visible toolbars make the AWB menus and buttons easier to find.

§         Show user toolbar when system is activated

What It Does:
Shows the User toolbar when you switch to Workbench Mode.

When To Use It:
When you have customized the user toolbar and want access to it in Workbench Mode.

§         Hide user toolbar when system is de-activated

What It Does:
Hides the User toolbar when you switch to standard Excel mode.

When To Use It:
When you have customized the User Toolbar for use in Workbench Mode only.

§         Show confirmation message before printing

What It Does:
Prompts you to confirm printing selections.

When To Use It:
When you often print many forms at once.

§         Use standard Excel Save As dialog box

What It Does:
Shows the standard Excel dialog box instead of the special AWB dialog box.

When To Use It:
When you need access to items in the standard Excel dialog box, such as File Passwords.
