Controlling Excel Add-Ins

Combine with Excel Instances?

1.1.1 About Microsoft Excel Add-Ins Microsoft provides a special type of file to the programmer: the add-in. The programmer writes his program and saves it in an add-in file, which normally has an xla extension. When a user opens the add-in file in Excel, Excel automatically finds the program, starts it, and runs it continuously until Excel itself is closed. Thus, add-ins give the programmer a controlled, transparent way to customize and extend Excel. The program component of the Anthem Tax Workbench system comes in an Excel add-in file: § AWB.xla.
